Regina's Dress

Regina's Dress

I was asked to recreate the lace dress worn by Bette Davis as Regina in the 1941 film "The Little Foxes".  The dress was to be on display as a suppliment to "The Way We Worked", a Smithsonian traveling exhibition.  I created the patterns for both the lace overdress and the silk underdress.  I also constructed the underdress, while colleague, Jacki Armit, constructed the overdress. The dress was also seen at two exhibits in Mobile, Alabama.  It was first featured as part of Mobile's monthly "Artwalk" before a three week stint at the Mobile Public Library, sponsored by the Mobile Arts Council.  This project was funded by a grant from the Alabama Humanities Foundation, the state affiliate for the National Endowment for the Humanities.
